"My city is like a saltwater pearl, gently, gently cradled by the Wasatch Mountains. The crescent of the foothills tenderly curves around the city like the palm of a mother's hand."
So begins a story by award-winning novelist Carolyn Howard-Johnson published by Literary Mama, an online journal of “writing by mothers, about parenting for everyone.”
Ericka Lutz, Fiction Editor, says that the May issue is dedicated to stories about the mothers of writers, a special edition for Mothers Day.
The story “Finding the Way” is a vignette based on an experience the author had when she visited her octogenarian mother in her hometown of Salt Lake City. A California resident for more than 40 decades, she had not forgotten how to drive the streets of her native city while her mother couldn’t quite adjust to that fact.
