The Observer of northwestern Alachua County began publication in 2003. Just two years later the paper sells to Barbara Llewellyn.

Patricia and Larry Behnke announced in January of 2005 that the March issue of their two-year-old paper would be the last one with them as publishers.

After the publication of the last issue, Barbara Llewellyn of Ocala, Florida, contacted the Behnkes and within a month she had purchased the paper and will begin publishing the popular 5,000 circulation monthly on August 4, 2005.
