...As she reached the booth, she quickly sat down, not noticing the man sitting in the booth directly across from her.
He was a rather tall man and looked to be in his fifties, with dark hair, except for some light greying at the temples. This only added to his handsomeness, she'd soon notice. He'd been waiting for his lunch to be served and noticed Rachael the moment she entered the restaurant. He didn't overlook the fact that she was quite attractive, in a regal sort of way. She walked with such confidence and poise. I just have to meet this very lovely lady, he was thinking, as his eyes wandered to the third finger of her left hand and instantly knew she belonged to another. As he was about to dismiss the sudden interest she had aroused in him, he saw her quickly wipe away a tear as she sat down. He was sure he wasn't mistaken, and although he didn't know why, he had the strongest desire to comfort her. But he also knew he didn't have the slightest idea what he'd say. Thomas hadn't had too much experience in women. He had dated a few, but never seemed to meet anyone that could make him sit up and take notice...that is, until now, he thought, as his eyes made their way back to the booth directly across from him......
