For Crying Out Loud an online BOTM
Saturday, July 07, 2001  8:41:00 AM

by C P Whitaker

Whitaker is in good company with Whitbread Prize winning author Jeanette Winterson.

Curve magazine's online version,, selected C. P. Whitaker's "For Crying Out Loud" as the May book of the month. has a very active message board including a book of the month discussion club. April's book of the month was "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit" by Whitbread Prize winning author Jeanette Winterson.

Open to anyone who registers to join in the discussion, Curve's BOTM asks these questions of readers: What did you think of the book? For those of you reading this book for the second time, have your impressions of the book changed? Which character was your favorite and why? Which was your least favorite and why? Tell what you think about the struggles in the book. How well do you think the book was written and what would have made it better? Did you like the book? If you have read any of the author's other books, how does this compare? What did you think of the ending? How did you feel when the character did or said....How do you think the character felt when she did or said...? What did you think of the plot line development? How credible did the author make it? Why do you think the author wrote this? What is her most important message? How does the setting figure as a character in the story? What type of vision does the author use with her word choice? Is it optimistic, pessimistic, prophetic, cautionary, humourous, satirical, venomous, cathartic? In the movie version, who would play what parts?

The monthly discussions continue until the topic is exhausted regardless of a new month's discussion beginning. "For Crying Out Loud" is available from numerous online retailers. Pick up your copy today and join the discussion.
