The Writers Bloc, Inc., a nonprofit organization for the literary arts, announces the election of its executive officers. The current board is as follows: Nan DeVincent-Hayes, President; Bowen Bennett, Vice-President; Ann Foley, Treasurer; Gloria Mansfield, Secretary; Josh Aterovis, Director of Publicity and Activities.
The Bloc was founded in 1992 by noted author Dr. Nan DeVincent-Hayes to help artists find outlets for their work, to encourage comradery among area authors and other literary artists and offer various training skills to help improve one’s work. Over the last ten years, The Bloc, in coordination with Maryland and Delaware colleges, has conducted three major workshops that featured international faculty and agents, and several smaller regional conferences. Future plans for the Bloc include book signings, readings, and a major Fall Workshop.
Membership is open to everyone; the Bloc does not discriminate on any level. Likewise, both seasoned and novice writers, published and non published ones may join. And those who don't write but have a love of books or like the literary arts in general, are also welcome. Membership includes discounts on all events, conferences and workshops, participation in signings and readings, online exposure on the Bloc website, newsletters, career and marketing advice, critique, and much more.
