A change in style of writing can be healthy and educational. Writing freelance was a big change from writing poetry and fictional stories. I love every minute of it. The research part can take you on many different avenues where one can learn new things.

I thought everyone would be interested in some of my writing extensions. I now write nonfictional articles for 'Parks & Rec Business', a magazine which gives out fantastic information about facilities and parks all over the United States.

My latest article is about water trails, mainly focusing on a new water trail. Here is a small escerpt:

Winding its way through New York, Vermont,Quebec, New Hampshire and Maine, the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail offers both the casual and expert paddler a unique window into the very heart and soul of this historic region.

The new water trail, a loose connection of 22 rivers/streams and 56lakes/ponds, follows ancient Native American travel routes through 45 towns and three natural refuges in a land, it seems, time forgot. A land dotted with symbols of where we as a people have come fromand indications, some good, some bad, of where we might be going. A land inspired the likes of Henry David Thoreau. A land of conflicting comercial, recreational and preservational interests.

For more on this story log onto www.parksandrecbusiness.com where you can continue to read this article as well as many other interesting articles. ANother article I recomend is "21st Century Park Design/ How the city of Chattanoga, Tenn. re-created and re-connected with its riverfront."
