Obama's Historic Election

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has been elected the first US black president. We are at the crossroads of history in the making. Senator John McCain addressed a group of supporters in his hometown of phoenix Arizona accompanied by his wife Cindy, his running mate Sarah Palin, and her husband Todd Palin.

In his very gracious concession speech, McCain told his supporters that he called Obama to congratulate him on his election as the 44th president of the United States . He urged his supporters to join him in congratulating Obama and helping him in moving the country forward. Said McCain: “Today, I have been a candidate for the highest office in this country and tonight, I am her servant”. He also sent his condolences to Obama for the death of his grandmother on Monday. He declared that this presidential campaign will form the most important part of his life as he took part in a historic process.

Senator Obama addressed an estimated one million people in Chicago . The crowd was very excited and chanted “Yes we can” and “Obama”.  It is worth noting that African Americans did not have the right to vote when Obama was born. Tears filled the eyes of many Obama supporters around the country. Millions of Americans were glued to their TV screens all night. Here in Central Ohio, thousands of Obama supporters gathered at the renneinsance Hotel in downtown Columbus . Dozens of Somalis led by the President of the Somali Community Association of Ohio, Mr. Hassan Omar. The Somali community in Ohio has overwhelmingly voted for Barack Obama.

Obama’s election attracted attention from all corners of the world. In Kenya , the country of Obama’s father, thousands of Obama supporters gathered in towns to watch the proceedings and celebrate the election of the first African American to become president of the United States .

The Luuliyo Media Team and Gedo Online administration would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Senator Barack Obama for his election of President of the United States of America .
