The Dangers of the Book Worm!
Inspiration: “Every man who knows how to read has it in his power to magnify himself, to multiply the ways in which he exists, to make his life full, significant and interesting” Aldous Huxley
Today’s thought comes from the annals of “Too Much of a Good Thing.”
This is especially appropriate for those of us who are constantly learning. Whether it be reading books, listening to educational materials on CD or DVD, or attending conferences and seminars you need to be aware of a HIDDEN DANGER. As a matter of fact it is probably one of those pitfalls that they hope you never find out!
It’s simply this:
Too Much Reading accompanied by Not Enough DOING (or in some cases not any doing) will ruin you…..FAST!
This is such an important issue that two Fortune 500 companies have targeted the idea of MORE DOING in recent advertising campaigns ( you may have heard of them: Home Depot and Intel). Unfortunately it has become fashionable to learn, think, and plan but at the same time be slow to follow-through.
When it comes to actually living your life and running your business the only thing that really matters is implementation (unless you plan to be a professional game show participant).
It’s true, when you are able to read with understanding you have within you the power to MAGNIFY, MULTIPLY, and SIGNIFY your life, but ONLY IF you APPLY the wisdom encased by the words you’ve soaked in.
Today, if you’ve found yourself caught up in the learning mode: Step Back and Pull Out something that you can actually Put Into practice, DO IT and watch your endeavors flourish.
