Excerpt from The Rockstar Ramblings:

This week a look at the band Down & Dirty and the release of their first video: “Taste of Rock & Roll”. Based in Chicago, Down & Dirty have released an album by the same name this year. Research on the band quickly turned up two items. First, that the band is relatively new to the scene. Secondly, they have a large number of groupies – already. Why every fourteen year old kid doesn’t teach himself how to play guitar is beyond me. PICK ONE: A. Master’s Degree B. White picket fence C. Groupies. Don’t feel too dirty, most picked the same one as you. Now a look at the video…

We start in the bedroom of a rather young looking Red/orange-headed girl who has a CD of the band on her nightstand. Her friend, who looks like she stepped out of the eighties calls her and invites her to go to the Down & Dirty show. The bedroom setting is very early Cinderella Night Songs down to the walls covered with posters of rock bands. Both of the girls have piercings which cements the whole “face piercings are the new bandana” argument I continue to hear in the subway on my way to work each morning.
