There are some days I should have stayed in bed.Weight lifters do get hooked on drugs, besides steroids.
I know from the past. |
Yesterday I met a nice fellow who is manager of a big department store. He runs a tight ship.He is very interested in the history of our country so I made a bargain with him.I gave him an autographed copy of Southern Winds and suggested that he purchase Fatal Addiction at the local book store.
We pretty well covered the water front and I was ready to move on back to my country mountain home.He reached up on a shelf and took out an old picture of him as he shared the story behind the snapshot.
"Sixteen years ago I was in charge of a spa and I taught and competed in body building."
He struck the pose and his muscles were bulging."Great phyique" I said.He made it clear this was before he met his new wife and his son was not born back then. Now he is twelve years old.
I noticed he repeated the fact that back then he took steroids and ruined his legs by lifting weights six hours a day. I reminded my new friend that he is supposed to pick up the copy of Fatal Addiction and don't forget it.However, each time we talked 'bout that book he seemed to change the subject.
During last night's nocturnal hours it came back to me about a guy I knew in another town who owned a spa and he went around scratching his head showing the muscles in his arms. This guy also took steroids but got hooked on valium for his nerves, demerol for his pains and sore muscles and ionamin for his false energy to keep the weight off his body, just muscle and gristle.
Now I hate to even entertain the idea that this guy was hooked on the same drugs and if he brought my book home with him his wife would raise hell if she knew his background music?Got a feeling I lost out on my book deal. So, we win some and we lose some.Time will tell the outcome.Betcha I am right? Phoey.
Please help me fight drug abuse. Will someone buy my book? Only joking, if I can't sell one I am good at giving them away. I'm happy, long as the sales outnumber the gifts.
