A Maine Christmas Carol is more than a retelling of the Dickens Classic. Set in Hallowell, Maine we find old Scrooge replaced by a 16 year old TJ. Having lost his father in Iraq, TJ has turned to drugs in an attempt to cope with a world that he feels has spun out of control. TJ alienates himself from his family and friends and his father returns in spirit of old, Jacob Marley of old, in an attempt to steer his son from the path of self-destruction.
“I loved this story. I enjoyed how the author related the events in this tale to the current times-drug use, disgruntled teenager, the War in Iraq, and even suicide. Once I picked this book up, I could not put it down. So many times I have watched stories pertaining to Scrooge, but this one hits so close to home because of the real time events. I was disappointed to see this book end. I could have read a few more hundred pages. Philip Harris has proven that not only can he co-write a book that causes us all to question what be have been raised to believe-“Waking God,” written with Brian Doe, but he can write real time stories that touch us all right where it counts the most, in our hearts. I actually cried three times while reading this book. A keeper for sure.”

A Maine Christmas Carol
“Mr. Harris has written a book that has very vivid and realistic characters that run you through an emotional uplifting of hope. He is the kind of writer that a person hopes will never stop writing for once you pick up the book you won’t put it down. It is REALLY a must read!!”
Troy Hite
My name is Troy Hite and I am currently incarcerated in Ionia Maximum Correctional Facility for making some bad choices in my life. I have used my time on the inside to do good and to become the man I should have been on the outside. I read books as a way to learn and grow and for a few hours, escape the setting I am in. I not only do reviews, I am an artist as well, designing cards, stationary and tattoos. Upon my release, I wish to work with young teens to help them make the right choices in life and to show them to appreciate the freedom that they have.
