How to Get on the News Without Committing Murder provides eight killer tips on how to present a positive media image at midlife. Mahone says, “Even though the book is written with a slant for my fellow baby boomers, anyone who has transitioned or is transitioning from the corporate world into doing their own thing as an entrepreneur or small business owner can benefit from it.”
The book offers valuable tips and resources on how to get more exposure. How to write a press release that gets noticed by the media, how to create your own media platform and how to use age and experience to your advantage are just a few of the important tips demonstrated in the book. “You have to learn how to create a buzz about who you are and what you do and my book provides that information,” says Mahone.
As someone who spent more than 30 years in the mainstream media, Mahone says when she left to start her own media consulting business, she quickly discovered how much the rules change when you’re the one calling the shots. “I found myself having to start all over again and make new in-roads so people would get to know me in a different capacity. It’s not always easy.”
This is Mahone’s fourth book. Her last one, Don’t Ask and I Won’t Have to Lie, reached the number two spot on Amazon in April 2012.
