ADDED WORKSHOP-
Writers who want to explore the city if Saint Augustine, Florida are invited for a walking exercise workshop, sponsored by Jane’s Stories Press Foundation, on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 2:40 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Guides for “A Writing Adventure in St. Augustine” will point out some of the city’s sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures along a route that begins at Seville and King Streets, stretches from the Plaza to the Oldest House, and returns to the Plaza via Cordova Street. The workshop focuses on adding sensory details to characters and settings, requires a fee of $25.00, and is limited to twelve participants.
Parts of the tour will be led by Glenda Bailey-Mershon, Leny
Kaltenekker, and Kimmy van Kooten, who will help writers envision the
city during various historical periods from the pre-European through
the Civil Rights eras. Along the way, walkers will take brief rests to
jot down impressions on a chart, with a longer stop scheduled at the
garden of the Oldest House, before returning to Flagler via streets
traveled in another time by St. Augustine’s civil rights
demonstrators, with narration by Barbara Vickers. A follow-up
exercise will entail making a story web. Alternative arrangements will
be made for those with disabilities. Participants should bring water,
sunscreen and umbrellas, as appropriate.
Jane’s Stories Press Foundation is a nonprofit organization that
encourages diversity among women writers and the inclusion of many

Jane’s Stories Press Foundation will also host a two-part workshop
called “Getting Into Print: How to get your work out there,” on
