In May of 2006 Laurie signed with Journey Stone Creations, an up-and-coming children's publisher from Ohio, to produce 4 in her series of children's educational picture books. The original plan was to assign the series to their line-up of books called Little Gems. County Fair, the first book, was to be released in spring 2007, with School Days to follow in late summer/early fall. The final two, Springtime Arrivals and Preparing for Winter were to be dealt with individually in 2008. While waiting for the release of County Fair; Journey Stone underwent changes in which they scaled down production for the general marketplace and embarked on a new venture with Somatic Digital. The result of this was the development of a line of speciality books, called Touch and Feel, with digital capabilities that would benefit children with special needs. Recent talks have cleared the way for Laurie's works to be switched to the new Touch and Feel line. Though production schedules and release dates have yet to be worked out and may take a while, Laurie is is anxious to be a part of such a unique and important project, especially as these digital books have designs to eventually include releases in Braille for the blind.
