In May of 2005, Laurie signed with children's publisher Journey Stone Creations, to produce a series of four picture books. Originally the stories were to be part of the "Little Gems" line of books, but company restructuring in the summer of 2007 led to the dissolution of the line. During this time, Journey Stone partnered with "Digital Somatic", a dynamic company that produces electronic books for children with special needs, called "Touch and Learn". As the user reads, the book comes to life with a touch of a page, complete with sound effects, and connects immediately to digital content stored on the computer, website, DVD's and CD's. The manufacturer is hoping eventually to make the line available in braille, as well. Two of four books from Laurie's series were transferred over to this digital venture, and the outcome will determine the direction of the remaining two. Recent updates to the production schedule depict "County Fair" will make its debut in June 2008, followed by "School Days" in September '08.
