With nearly 500 pages of non-stop adventure across six continents and the United States, D.K. Christi’s Arirang: The Bamboo Connection, has a lifetime romance threading through the adventures tying them together with hope. Ever dream of leaving land behind and sailing the high seas? Welcome aboard Obsession, a 70-foot, ketch-rigged sailing vessel in the Caribbean. Do you prefer land travel? Maybe not after being stranded in the Baghdad airport without a visa. Written in the first person, Arirang: The Bamboo Connection gives you the adventure, including intimate vignettes of joy, sorrow and fears experienced in small communities and big cities across the United States. You will check your passport for your own visa! You may feel your own lifetime unfolding in the fiction novel full of the reality of human emotion. Looking for a Christmas gift? The romantic Christmas vignette in Butzbach, Germany during the Viet Nam war era will warm your heart.
D. K. Christi is the pen name for an educator/administrator well-known in several states and the community for her work with those who need a louder voice for upward economic mobility. The references to Puerto Rico were reviewed by Nancy Iacovone, counselor at Immokalee Career Center/Bethune Education Center, and the author’s photograph is by Nancy’s niece, Shaina Tatro. The author has been active in serving Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties since the 1980s. She was a founding member for the Community Foundation of Collier County and former president of the Immokalee Inter-Agency Council. Local readers may recognize similarities between their community and the fiction account of the heroine’s experiences; however, the author draws from many Florida counties in which she has lived and worked or conducted research, including both coasts and northern Florida.
