While Matt and crew did battle, this past weekend, with an attack by (probably Chinese) worms and spyders, my page stats topped the 100-thousand mark (the two events were not related!). We all wondered what was going on, and alarm was rife in Authors Broadcasts. Thanks to Matt and his crew, things are back to normal.
~sigh of relief~
Why would hackers want to disrupt our AD site? Can I suggest that this was one more practice run (other major sites have recently been attacked in similar ways). Sooner or later, we will see some fireworks as hackers attempt to take Microsoft down, and maybe Google, too. Why? Because banking and governmental communications are dependent upon the Internet and world-wide networking. Such a goal does suggest one or more culprits.
So far, our IT people can combat the worms and spyders of hackers. Let us hope that the hackers do not develop wolverines and alligators (they keep trying).
For now, all is well. Thanks, Matt!
