LifeLock will travel for two weeks and log 6,620 miles stopping in numerous markets along the East Coast. Along the campaign trail, LifeLock CEO Todd Davis, a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist™, will be accompanied by identity theft prevention ambassadors and former victims, hosting events and seminars to shed light on the growing crime of identity theft. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign a petition requesting Congress to enact more stringent laws to protect consumers from losses of data, problems of identity theft, and prosecute the perpetrators of the crime. Signatures will be delivered to congressional leaders in Washington, DC on Thursday, March 6.
“Though we are clearly making progress because of the increased attention brought to the problem, identity theft continues to be a thorn in the side of consumers throughout the U.S.,” said Davis. “It’s crucial that everyone takes this crime seriously. Doing nothing or turning to options that are not preventative can no longer be an option. This campaign is designed to provide consumers with an education about the crime, a list of options for limiting risks, and hopefully, serve as a motivational tool for those looking for a reason to speak up and take action.”
