For a number of years I have been helping schools and teachers make learning English a fun exercise. In particular I have made available free instructions on fantasy short story writing, which has proved a great success with tens of thousands of teenagers. I have also helped interest older children in biology, incuding evolutionary biology. Both these exercises have included prizes for schools, such as free copies of my novels or science books.
I have had a number of teachers come back to thank us, finding the free booklet and exercise helpful in promoting literacy. A few days ago I thanked a reviewer at Goodreads for a glowing review of The Snowmelt River only to discover that she felt she owed me a debt of thanks since she had participated in the fantasy short story exercise we conducted in association with www.fantasybookreview.com, when she was one of the final shortlist. She felt so encouraged she has had a number of novellas, and now a full fantasy novel, accepted for publication. Naturally I was delighted and very encouraged.
Only bona fide teachers, or schools, will be considered, though I am happy to give advice to parents wishing to help their own children.
I'm now the representatives of Brit Writers in S Yorkshire, in the UK. Schools or teachers who would like to know more can get in touch with britwriters.com or go to my websites frankpryan.com and fprbooks.com.
