| L.L. Zampelli's next novel is close to the end of the editting phase. She is hoping to have it released by the end of 2007. Working title is "My Best Friend's Brother" and it is a continuation of Zampelli's first novel, "Unpredictable Turns." This novel focuses on the relationship between Elizabeth Turner and A.J. Scott, Kate Ryan's best friend and brother, who discover their love for each other in "Unpredictable Turns." Can their love make it through all the twists and turns life has to offer? |
Eric knelt down beside the bed and held Meg’s hand. “Momma,” he whispered to her, “it’s Eric. Please come back to us. We need you.”
Meg squeezed Eric’s hand. “Eric? M-my s-soldier b-boy,” Meg stuttered, her eyes slowly opening. “You’re h-here.”
“Of course Momma, I had to come. We’re all here, Sandy, Aaron, Ellie and me.”
“El-liz-zab-beth is h-here?” Meg asked.
“Yes, Momma, I’ll get her,” Eric quickly got up and stuck his head in the hall. A.J. was still holding Ellie in his arms. “Ellie, she’s awake!” Eric announced.
“What?” Ellie said rushing into the room with A.J. following. She knelt down next to her mother. “I’m here Momma.”
“E-liz-zab-beth,” Meg whispered slowly and caressed her face.
“Yes, Momma, I’m here.”
“How’s the b-baby, Kate’s b-baby?”
Ellie smiled. “She’s wonderful Momma. Kate named her Isabelle Marie Ryan.”
“B-beau-ti-ful na-me,” Meg told her. “When… can… I… see… her?”
“Soon, Momma, but let’s get you better and home first,” Ellie agreed with a bigger smile. She had tears running down her cheeks, but Meg, even in her weakened state, wouldn’t stand for it.
“N-no tears. I’m… fine,” she told Ellie taking her thumb and gently wiping them away.
“I’ll go call Aaron and Sandy,” A.J. volunteered from the back of the room.
“Al-lex-an-der,” Meg acknowledged, “It… is… won-der-ful… to…see…you.”
“Yes, Ma’am,” A.J. replied, “it’s good to see you too, but I wish it were under better circumstances.”
“D-do…n-not…wor-rry…f-for….m-me,” Meg encouraged.
“Yes, Ma’am,” A.J. responded, then he looked at Ellie with relief and again said, “I’ll go call Aaron and Sandy.”
When he’d left the room, Meg observed, “He….l-loves….you….El-liz-zab-beth. That…much…an-ny-one…can…see.”
“I know, Momma. He’s here because he loves me and because Kate didn’t want me to come alone.”
“Th-th-ey…look…out…for…you.”
“Yes, Momma.”
“I…am-m…g-gl…ad-d.”
“Okay, Mother, I think you need to rest a little. I’m going to have Dr. Jasper notified and we’ll see how things are going.”
“Y-yes…d-doc-c-tor,” Meg relented with a smile.
“I’ll sit with her, sis. Go find the doctor,” Eric offered.
“Thanks, Eric,” Ellie gratefully replied and left the room.
