Finally after struggling through another rough year in 2010 here 'at my remote artistic post' in the outback of Central Florida, I have managed, almost single-handedly to remaster, produce and publish my 2nd jazz piano solo CD: called Unrequited, 2010 vrs by jazz pianist Michael Guy. It has been a lot like single handling a sailboat around the world - ask any sailor whose ever done it! The only bad thing, is I'm still in one place... which is why in the future I intend to trade my house for a boat. Though my remote location makes turning this house into a recording studio advantageous, as there are no neighbors to disturb, and I can record anytime; at the same time it makes any effort to get out of here tough. And it makes promotion tougher, as I have only 'dial-up' internet out here.
Yet, in 2010, thanks to Pres. Obama's stimulus plan, I was able to finally buy the Fostex mastering deck and software I needed to complete this CD - that's right! All the rest of money is spoken for. Even musicians have the same bills as any "day job" fellow and we don't have the reliable income a job provides. No investment as yet come forward and I am basically starting a record company. I intend to take my results to New York City and am planning to do so, but it may yet take selling this place here in FL. What does this have to do with my CD? A lot, I have conquered all this and still done the impossible; without backing I have released the best sounding piano music I have ever recorded and written in 30 years of jazz - including my previous stay in New York during the 1980's. Anyone who signs on now as a fan, will be highly favored when I finally achieve the public recognition I deserve and intend to get in New York. Though I have long been out of New York (and I'm sure it has changed) I still target it as my prime goal for two reasons. One, is I am from there, although that goes back 30 years or so; and two, great jazz artists like Pat Metheny, still reside or have a presence there and frankly getting their attention is a lot more important than getting the 'average Joe's' attention here in FL or on the internet. The internet has proven to be a big disappointment as a promo tool and I have listed and promoted my music on many sites... but still, I will list my tracks from CD UNREQUITED on those sites yet again as I did for my 2008 CD, August Ocean Overture.
