Coach Dave Rineberg has yet another feather to add to his white Adidas tennis cap. His latest prodigy from California, Julia Boserup, recently won the 2008 girls 18's Orange Bowl Tennis tournament. With the successful results of all his players this year coach Rineberg has been nominated by his hometown newspaper for Coach of the Year in Tennis.
Coach Rineberg has coached Boserup for the past 4 years working on everything from her forehand and backhand groundstrokes, serve, volleys, footwork, speed, fitness and mental game. "She needed alot of layers on her game when she first came to me," said Rineberg.
When asked what it takes to coach a player to win an Orange Bowl, Rineberg said, "It's alot of committment and personal time that goes into coaching a player to this championship level. Most coaches aren't willing to make the personal sacrafices that it takes to get a player through what I call the growing and training years. The most important years when foundations are laid and attitudes and toughness are developed. For girls it's between 11 and 16 and for boys it's later."
When asked if he had any new players coming up, Rineberg said, "I have two new players and a waiting list for juniors. I'm also looking at coaching a top WTA player again."
Rineberg is the former coach of Venus and Serena Williams and the author of five published books. He coaches and lives in South Florida.
