For immediate release!

June, 2000—Author, John Darling, is happy to announce the publication of his trivia book What’s In A Name? The Book of Bands. The book, published by, is available now via the Internet though their website The book will be available in paperback by way of these sites’ print-on-demand feature as well as through immediate download to a personal computer.
The book, that is slated to be the first in a series of books on the same subject, looks at the creative process utilized by bands and singers as they choose their stage names. Here is an example of what you will find in the book:
THE BEATLES- There could not be a book or article written on this subject that did not include the group that started it all. Although there are several explanations for what inspired John, Paul, George, and Ringo (whose real name was Richard—he was called by this nickname due to all the rings he wore) to choose The Beatles over The Quarrymen, an early name for the group, the most widely accepted account is the one that says John Lennon chose The Beatles to play off of Buddy Holly’s group The Crickets. After agreeing to change their name to the Beetles, a suggestion made by former Beatle, Stu Sutcliffe, John’s "punish" humor kicked in. He changed the spelling to reflect the “beat” music the boys were playing at the time. Do you think, perhaps, that John should have stayed with The Quarrymen? After all they were a “rock” group! Oh well, onward and (hopefully) upward!
