Choices, My Secrets

"Choices, My Secrets" by Thomas Wade Bounds is a book about choices,
redemption, and responsibility. It's also a book about teens who give
in emotionally, physcially, and mentally. Emotionally because it makes
them feel good, good about themselves and the deceptive honesty that
forces them to make a wrong choice. Physically because their bodies
experience a rush of excitement and forbidden pleasures that's denied to
them. Mentally because they know it's wrong, but they do it anyway
because they want it, and they want it now. They don't want to
wait...for anything...including acting like an adult, but without
acknowledging the consequences of their acts.
Choices, My Secrets has a young girl become pregnant. At first, she
denies it to herself. Then, she denies it to her parents. Worst of
all, she denies it to the young man who impregnated her in the first
place. Her denials lead to remonstrations and force the young girl to
grow up, while coping with the bed she must now lie in.
In the end, like Peter, like Saul, she accepts the spiritual
ramifications of what she's done. In getting herself pregnant, the
young girl is responsible for two lives. The moral and ethical
questions she must face are: abortion, adoption of child, or bear the
child herself. Mr. Thomas Bounds makes the decision for her. In his
Christian belief, abortion is murder, adoption out of the question, so
the young girl decides to keep the child, and raise the child with the
help of her parents.
Teen pregnancy has risen in the past few years. "Choices, My Secrets"
by Thomas Wade Bounds is a good read and true within the limits of Mr.
Bounds' beliefs. I rate this book 3 stars.
