Question one: molly: can you tell me how you came to decide to write in the mystery genre?
Christine: It's because I love reading mysteries. It all started with Lord Peter
Wimsey, the most charismatic and funny serial character ever invented. Dorothy L. Sayers was a woman way ahead of her time in many ways.
I write in other genres, as well. Childrens' books, romantic and science fiction short stories. In science fiction, Douglas Adams is my big hero. He's so funny. I meant to say, he was so funny, because he died in May, which came as quite a shock.
What I like about mysteries is that they provide a wonderful background for
social and psychological studies. My mysteries are not whodunnits. I want to
explore and understand what drives a person to kill, or what turns a person into a victim. Both are very disturbing topics, that's why I try to add a dose of humor and excentricity.
Next question please :-)
