Art Classes & Creative Workshops
Parallels Studio is offering private and group classes in basic art instruction: sketching, drawing and painting, ages 6 through adult.
Creative Workshops are designed for specific needs for schools, daycares, children's parties, nursing homes, churches or organizations including special needs groups.
Russell's experience includes teaching and exhibiting art since 1974. She founded Kidzart in 1983 to promote awareness of the importance of early art education. Russell's exhibits were presented in public libraries in Delaware and Maryland from 1985 through 1998. Although recognized as an abstract artist, Russell is a realist and values most the importance of teaching concepts and techniques which provide a solid foundation for realism, representational and experimental work.
Russell is a previous gallery owner, representing the work of thirty-six visual artists and served as Cultural Arts Chair for Maryland Congress of Parents and Teachers and served as Educational Chair and Vice President of The Art Institute and Gallery in Salisbury, Maryland.
With many years experience as an art instructor and substitute teacher, Russell is confident and comfortable teaching all ages and abilities, including special needs. Russell has organized, and participated in several local exhibits including: "Painting in an Abstract Vein", featuring Fort Collins artists: Don Vogl, Carol Schinkel and Norma Meeks. Russell's work can be seen through September, in Estes Park at the Convention Center, in the "Points of Light" exhibit sponsored by the Arts Council of Estes and the Renegade Artists (an abstract arts group).
