An excerpt from the introduction page to my 100 poem compilation.
Stephen King once said, and, re-printed with Mr. Kings permission,
"If a reader needs a Thesaurus to understand the meaning of what you are trying to put across; you have lost them!"
I also believe the success I am having with my poetry is due to the fact I write for all, I write from the heart, I write simple so all can understand, I also know that with increasing understanding of the English vocabulary my poems will grow stronger, but I hope never to loose sight of how simplicity can touch so many.
Achievement and recognition come with hard work and, as with my poetry, each new piece is a milestone and a step further into the future, sure, some of my poems lack the vocabulary expertise of those far more experienced in writing poetry than I, but, my poetry seems to resonate with the average person who relates to and enjoys reading my writings, so, with this compilation, I hope you enjoy the journey you are about to embark.
David J Delaney.
One of the reviews.
David. J. Delaney’s poetry epitomises the ‘fair dinkumness’ of Australia and its people. His work is genuine and appealing with dimensions of bush ballads, military themes, love and family. Dave’s journey as a poet in this anthology shows his dedication to refine his craft as a writer. He is emerging as a ‘true blue’ popular verse-maker. Hazel Menehira FTCL. ANZDA.
