The Starving Poets Society was founded on the basis that there are a lot of poets that write poetry of some form or another and want to join some sort of Poetry Society Group where they might fit in. In numbers we just might be able to get Poetry more recognition in their community. This is the 21st Century Poetry and it comes in all shapes and forms. It is written by people of all ages. Poetry is a voice that speaks out about the times. We hope with the Starving Poets Society that the poets voice is no longer silent and more poets with independant publishers can finaly get on that book shelf. Many of the bookstore Poetry Venues welcome poetry at there store, but do not even place it on their shelves.
