After a long tedious quest for the "right" cover photograph for her book, Kathleen Clauson was fortunate to cross paths with Julita Siegel, whose photograph "First Snow" graces the cover of her novella, Eva Galuska and the Christmas Carp. Kathleen learned about Julita's work when she was searching for a cover photo. She contacted Victoria Granacki, author of Chicago's Polish Downtown, and she recommended contacting the Polish Museum of America in Chicago. Kathleen called the museum and was directed to Julita Siegel. After seeing a few of her photographs, Kathleen became enthralled with Julita's unique European-style artistry and her haunting photographs. .
Julita came to Chicago after graduating from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan, Poland, with a Master's degree in Art History. Her photographs have appeared in several other publications, including American Photo Magazine, Photographer's Forum, Best of College Photography, and in the book, Polish Chicago: Our History, Our Recipes earned a master's degree in Art History. Julita also does graphic design.
Currently, Julita is working on the cover of Kathleen's forthcoming book, which will be announced in October 2008..
