Narrow Path Publishing was created out of big dreams. Author success. Allowing friends to share in that success. Move out of the small town environment.
Big dreams require big financing. After six months on the market, very few copies of Winter's Silence have been sold, despite an online advertising blitz.
Author and founder Stephanie Siberstein found herself wondering if opening her own publishing company was a mistake. "There's so much more to running a successful business than I ever realized," she explained. "It's overwhelming, especially financially. Last year i had $6000 in savings. Now it's gone, and I haven't seen any results."
Silberstein was regretting the decision to publish Winter's Silence. She was worried about having the money to pay her core team next month, never mind moving to Boston and living there. She had decided to focus her efforts on writing and promoting her new novel, Shades of Gay, hopng not to make the mistakes she made with Winter's Silence.
Then she checked Narrow Path's post office box. There was one small envelope that looked like an advertisement. She was tempted to throw it away, but she opened it just in case.
It was a purchase order from Coutts Information Services. Coutts is a company that services libraries across the country.SIlberstein went home with a "completely changed" attitude. She believes that this purchase order is "only the beginning", and is motivated to sell Winter's Silence as well as Shades of Gay.
"It was G-d. I know it was," Silberstein said. "He always comes at just the right time, when it seems like nothing is going to work."
Winter's Silence is available through amazon.com, as well as directly through Narrow Path Publishing.
