I wrote 'My Success Depends On You' years ago about my wife Tammy. Tammy wanted me to submit something about her to Live! with Regis and Kathy Lee (a morning talk show) in hopes to win her a make over, so I decided to submit this song about her for the contest.
I contacted my good friend and talented musician Pastor Rocky Barra. I told Rocky about the contest and told him I had a studio and had to have the song sent out the next day on overnite delivery.
Rocky agreed to meet at 11PM on a Monday, he finshed the song about 4AM Tuesday, I sent it out next day delivery on Tuesday and received a call from the shows producer on Friday telling me they loved the song and Tammy was a finalist. The producer also told me to make arrangements with work and child care for the following week, because if we were selected, the show would be flying us to New York the following week all expenses paid. Tammy did not win, but it allowed me another way to show Tammy my love and witness first hand the love of Jesus illuminate through Pastor Rocky.
Then while listening to WMUZ 103.5 FM in Detroit one day, I heard about an honor your Pastor contest. The prize was a 1/2 hour time slot, at no cost, for your Pastor to advertise his Church.
I re-wrote "My Success Depends On You' (with the only person I love more than Tammy in mind) and submitted it along with the story of how the song originated and how it would not have been possible to honor my wife without the help of a loving, sacrificial friend and brother in Christ, Pastor Rocky Barra Tri-City Christian Center (now Connection Church in Canton Michigan).
We won the honor your pastor contest and Pastor Rocky used the 1/2 hour time slot to share about his ministry. Now in the world of music 'My Success Depends On You' may not count as an award winning song, but in the world of LOVE, my heart has added another song to it's trophy case. Thanks for taking the time to listen and feel free to share "My Success Depends On You" and to God Be The Glory!
