Excerpt from "A Garden of Hope for Caregivers"
What is the role of hope for the caregiver?
When the caregiver stops and takes account of what is going on, they will realize that for the caregiving journey ahead it is best to deal with the past, energize the present and open up their hearts and lives to whatever will come in the future. This the caregiver will do with a reassurance that what will come is full of God’s love, that what will come will bless both the person cared for and the caregiver. Most of all, through opening their hearts to the love of God, caregivers will realize all hopes for a life well and fully lived.
Excerpt from "Psalms for Caregivers"
A care giver leads an often lonely and wearisome life full of daily chores, physical and emotional stress and a sense that there is never enough of time, energy or hope to meet the present day.
The writers of the book of Psalms also faced a variety of life’s challenges and spoke openly about their woes as well as their hopes in some of the most poetic scriptures of the Holy Bible. In their words I find hope, encouragement and understanding that today’s caregivers can identify with..
Each verse or series of verses from Psalms is a mother lode of ore from which I have refined affirmations for care givers. I link these affirmations to the full range of spiritual, physical, and emotional trials typical of the care givers journey. It is my hope and prayer that in these pages the care giver, be they family member, paid professional, or friend will find ways to affirm their situations, consider well who they are and acknowledge the nobility of their daily tasks however menial and distasteful they might be.
