In a castle in a small Irish township, the lord of all of Europe sits drinking wine with his vineyard master in the great hall of O’Day Keep. This is a regular tradition with every harvest and wine making. Collin O’Day, who is a twelve hundred year old vampire, loves human food and wine. He is a good lord as well; he is not in the habit of letting his subject be eaten by rogue vampires or anything else. His Wine master knows what Collin is and loves the man anyway. His family has served the House of the O’Day clan for as long as they have existed and never has even one of his family been harmed. Amus Savage was a portly man with a happy face, he was in his forty fifth year of life. He was wealthy by most men’s standard but his friendship with Collin was his prized possession. Collin felt the same way about Amus.
The door gong that Collin brought back from China when he visited his friend the Khan, whom ruled Asia like he did Europe, just bonged, so the servants went to announce whom ever came to call. There was a crashing noise and one of the servants came bouncing into Collin’s view bleeding. Collin was very kind to his staff, and anyone who injured them just signed a death sentence. In a flash Collin burst to speed.
“Geet out of me wee, or I’ll kill ya” A vampire screamed!
Collin had the black-heart by the throat; then he let him go in disgust.
“I thought I banished you from my lands” Collin announced loudly.
“True but a new hunter came and burned Brian and me out in America; He seems to be determined to wipe out all vampires, from the top down. I came to warn you” Mark said.
Collin looked over Mark and was unpleased as usual. He could not understand how his blood could flow through this trash before him.
“I will grant you a short stay in my lands, until I can confirm or abolish the news you brought me. One more thing” Collin said as he back handed Mark into a stone wall. “You will not touch my staff or any other human in Europe or I will cut your heart out personally. Do you understand me”?
“Yes sir, I will obey you” Mark said quickly.
Secretly Mark had hoped that Brian would challenge his Great grandfather to a duel and kill him, thus mark would become Lord O’day over Europe. However, Brian did not want to risk it, Collin was not to be trifled with; he killed every opponent he had ever had and was old and extremely powerful. Collin was soft toward Humans; that would someday spell his doom, maybe that day had come. Mark had set in motion the wheels that would bring then Hunter Jazon here to Ireland. Collin would not allow a hunter on his lands, so they would be sure to kill each other, or at the least one would parish. Life was good mark thought.
