Several emerging infidelity trends have been identified by infidelity expert Ruth Houston, founder of www.InfidelityAdvice.com and author of Is He Cheating on You? – 829 Telltale Signs. Houston is a New York-based infidelity expert who is frequently called on by the media to comment on infidelity issues in the news.
No Forseeable Decline in Infidelity Rates
Houston, an internationally-recognized infidelity expert, comments on the emerging trends in infidelity that she has identified for 2008, saying, “Since infidelity statistics vary from study to study, exact figures are hard to come by. But infidelity studies, polls, and surveys unanimously agree that infidelity and extramarital affairs are at an all-time high. I don’t think we’re likely to see any decline in these rates in the foreseeable future. However, I do see several interesting emerging infidelity trends.”
Positive and Negative Infidelity Trends
Says Houston, “Most of the emerging infidelity trends I’ve identified have negative implications – the increase in internet-aided infidelity, higher rates of infidelity and extramarital affairs among certain segments of the population such as baby boomers, and the increasing rates of workplace infidelity. But I do see some positive infidelity trends. For example, an increased awareness of the seriousness of cyber infidelity and emotional infidelity, and the fact that people will become more proactive, rather than reactive in dealing with infidelity.“
A Negative Infidelity Trend Having a Positive Effect
“However, there is one negative infidelity trend that will continue to have an unexpected positive effect” observes Houston, “and that’s the rising rate of female infidelity. It’s producing some very positive changes, in that many men now view their marriages and committed relationships in a different light. As more men become victims of infidelity, they’re beginning to rethink their attitudes about cheating on their mates.”
Emerging Infidelity Trends for 2008
