| A new member of my family - a little female Golden Labrador |
Shaye is lonely when we go to work and he has to spend the day outside on his own. I thought about another puppy and then decided I would be a masochist to want to go through rearing another puppy.
A friend at work owns a Golden Labrador and she gave birth a couple of weeks ago to 10 puppies, 8 that lived. 2 are females and 6 are males. I decided, just on the spot, to ask if I could buy one of the females and fortunately (I hope) 1 was available. My friend's kids have named her Lucky Lulu and I have my first baby pic of her at 2 days old. awwww she is all pink and gold and white sigh*.
I wanted to buy a puppy for my youngest son because he loved his cattledog bitch and had to have her put down when she was only 8.5 years old as her legs went on her and she had a lot of internal problems that couldn't be fixed. I decided to buy the puppy for him and just turn up with her one day at his home, but then I decided I better tell him about my plans. He lives with his partner at his father's home (my ex) and my ex is in a nursing home, minus both his legs after suffering deep artery thrombosis and gangrene in both legs. My son hopes to bring him home and look after him soon.
Whether the puppy goes to my son is now under question as it will depend on the decision he makes and his father makes. My ex has fallen out of his wheelchair a few times already and it's very harsh on him. I can understand the fear that maybe a dog around could be a handicap, not a help. I hoped that a puppy that will grow into a beautiful big animal that will be loyal and a great companion, would be an asset to the home. But I could be very wrong.
Regardless of their decision, I will bring the puppy home and she will become part of my family. Shaye I hope will take her under his big paws and love her and be happy with a new playmate and someone to look out for during the long days we are at work.
I picked an Irish name out for the puppy as Shaye is an Irish name and the meanings of his name - stately, courteous and hawk-like - all fit him perfectly.
Kyna - meaning wise. I have no doubt that the puppy will be a wise lady because she is a Labrador. Kyna is short and sweet and will be easy for her to learn and for people to remember (I hope). I'm really happy with my choice as it's not a typical girlie name, it's something very different - much like my own name that I must admit I've never liked! But then I'm not a beautiful Golden Labrador :)
I can't wait to see my friend tomorrow to find out how Kyna is doing and hopefully she may have some updated pics of Kyna and the rest of the puppies.
More news later. How exciting it will be the day that Shaye meets Kyna for the first time. awwww hope it's love at first sight as I'm planning for a marriage later on :)
Take care.
