Love and troubles of sisterhood,
and a small town''s prejudice. |
When Paul and Joanne Johnson moved from England to Sweden during the war, they had no idea what outcome it would have for their family. That their two daughters Cindy and Jackie, sisters with seven years apart, were to grow up in a small town with it’s share of joy but also prejudice. They would have to reckon with partial schoolmates, pestering local boys, and an opinionated ladies’ society, but most of all, sisterhood.
The story takes place in the autumn and winter of 1951, in the Swedish countryside of Småland. The war has been over for some time, yet strong emotions runs deep in the small secluded community of Alsterhult.
Amongst all the impressionable events taking place in their young lives, Cindy and Jackie will learn what it means to be sisters.
A time when life was simpler, yet complicated.
