Listed below are the safety tips and pointers about swimming which would really help you as soon as you get into the pool:
1. Once you get inside the pool, do not assume that you know everything about swimming even though you're not. First and foremost, learn how to swim, if not all the skills, at least the basic of it.
2. Always try and swim when there is a lifeguard that can see you. May he be standing on their post or just around the swimming pool decks, so that if anything goes wrong, help is always at hand.
3. If you go for a swimming somewhere else, just like to a resort that is unfamiliar to you, don't dive for it may just be a shallow water that can sometimes be quite deceptive.
4. Always ask a lifeguard about the beach and the surfing conditions before diving in, if you want to swim in the sea or in the ocean.
5. Do not swim when you are drunk. When you are under the influence of alcohol, do not attempt to go on swimming because they are a deadly mixture. Alcohol impairs judgment, balance, and coordination that will affect your swimming.
6. Protect your head, neck, and spine, and don't dive in to unfamiliar water.
7. It is also important to remember not to chew any kind of gum or food while swimming because you will be more prone to choking.
8. Always check the weather conditions before you go out for a swimming. Never go on a swimming when there is an indication of a bad weather. It may not be safe.
9. If you have your own swimming pool at home, never leave it open. Enclose it with something that you know will not create any harm most especially to your children.
