The body of the work is mostly character-driven about people that Garrison found led interesting lives in the last century —a pioneer, cowboys, prospector/artist, strong women, bar owners, squatter, sheriffs, and an endurance horse race. They are pleasant reads, largely about lifestyles, humor and adventure.
The children's book is about wild pig-like animals that roam the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. It is photographically illustrated by the author and photographer Al Brown. A reviewer called the text "lyrical."
