For almost ten years I have been selling my books and stories on the internet. And I have done it all with no paid help.
Writing quality fiction is very time consuming, as is self marketing, creating cover art, and learning to use all of the technology required to keep a writer afloat and competitive in their efforts.
Most indie writers do well to break even. If you want any REAL profit- you have to "do-it-yourself", or as much of it as possible, anyway.
Smashwords.com is an ebook publisher that everyone should check out. Their service is free. Your work will be converted to file formats for iBook and Kindle and many more ebook readers. The only expense is the ISBN number, which you can get from Smashwords and pay for out of your royalties, or you can get it from another source if you have a better one, and use it on Smashwords. The ISBN numbers are a whopping $9.95!
If you properly format your work, your products will be available to be catalogued in Bowker's and will be available on many, many online ebook sellers. Like Amazon, Borders and the iBook Library.
I am publishing all 25 of my 6000 word (average, +/-) short stories on Smashword. They pay quarterly royalties. They have a great service. The minute you publish- you are ON THE SEARCH ENGINES! Instantly!
Check it out, writers! Let me know if I can help!
