Well what do styles of love-say about an individual, a culture, a country? Are there patterns? What are the origins, effects and outcomes of these various styles? What do individuals think about the styles they have been exposed to?
The question to be explored here is are there identifiable styles of love-making which have patterns we can identify as pertaining to individuals, to regions, to cultures, to countries, or to even races?
We seldom see much written about this, although I suspect such patterns exist. The question is whether love-making styles are purely individual or have patterns on the social, cultural, or even national levels. Don't know but as I am fond of saying: "I'm not sure, lets you and me go find out."
Since there is not much data on this my mind wants to know what are the positives and negatives of each love-making style in terms of their effects on the individual and any relation to societal outcomes.
For example, if a style of loving making is say like the Roman example, which was by many accounts brutal, what does this say about Roman society, and what were the effects upon Romans themselves?
Romans actually forced women and animals to have sex in the arena, a practice which lasted hundreds of years, and over 700, 00 people killed as well in public sacrifice blood-fests. The Roman master could demand sex from women, slaves, male and female for themselves and their houseguests upon demand.
What is the impact, sources and meanings of this style upon individuals, masters and slaves, and upon Roman society itself? What came first power or sexual practices or did they grow up together. Even situational changes may radically alter sexual practices. For example why during war or disasters, natural or other wise, rape is so common, not to mention deviate sexual behavior?
It is clear that different societies may indeed have different styles and produce different mentalities and hence may have impact upon individuals and indeed the world, in the Roman example.
A question here also is whether the Roman style came first and grew with Roman power, or did Roman power allow this style to develop and grow.
The sex drive is apparent in every society; the question is how does this play out in concrete love-making and with what results upon whom.
This is somewhat of a taboo topic. My kind of taboo to break-the kind that people don't talk about
