Dorothy Day, A Passion for Peace Dorothy Day was a fascinating journalist who lived in Greenwich Village and dated Eugen O'Neill.
She spent her life trying to improve the lot of the workers and all the poor. She had a complete conversion and covounded The Catholic Worker and Houses of Hospitality for homeless people all over the world. She was a close fiend of Mother Teresa for years.
She worked for Peace even during the Second World War and spent time in jail. She protested for women's right to vote but she did not trust politics and never voted.
