EARTHQUAKE DEVASTATES HAITI

This is a SPECIAL EDITION of our E-Newsletter – dedicated to the innocent victims of the earthquake
in Haiti.

One of the worst-ever natural disasters in the western hemisphere has left the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince in ruins. The 7.0-magnitude earthquake, the strongest to hit Haiti and the Caribbean basin in more than 200 years, swallowed the country's positive momentum as viciously as it razed the flimsy concrete buildings of densely populated Port-au-Prince, where 2 million people live — and where tens of thousands may now be dead.

Even as the United Nations stepped up its massive aid operation, the world body was trying to determine how many of its own staff were killed in the magnitude-7 quake that struck Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010.

"It's very difficult to give an exact number," said Byrs. "This is also a tragedy for the United Nations."
She said up to 100 U.N. staff were trapped in the main U.N. peacekeepers' building, which was destroyed.

People in northern climates who have been looking south and shaking their heads sadly over the plight of people living in the path of Atlantic hurricanes and Pacific tsunamis had better get ready for a few seismic events of their own, according to a growing number of prominent geologists.

LIMBAUGH went so far in his crazy comments as to urge people NOT to donate to help Haiti. And remember – these same right-wing pundents do not believe that GLOBAL WARMING is real – or that pollution is a major problem for our environment. They have ridiculed AL GORE and nearly every environmentalist who has mentioned the challenge.

If you thought that the racism, stupidity, crazy, deranged remarks, and outrageous insults had stopped -- think again.

These sick comments from the right-wingers came only a few days after they had tried to derail Senator Harry Reid over some clumsy comments that he had made over a year ago – concerning Obama’s candidacy.

Most of the right-wing pundents (such as Glenn Beck and Limbaugh) praise the FOUNDING FATHERS of the U.S. – but the fail or refuse to present the whole truth.

Jefferson’s Blemish – he was a slave-owner…as were most of the Founders. Thomas Jefferson was partly responsible for allowing Napoleon to kill thousands of Haitians who were fighting for freedom in the 1800’s. His vengeful policy toward Haiti – like his personal ownership of slaves – represented an ugly blemish on his legacy as a historic advocate of freedom.
