Newsletter Dated: 8/15/2010 2:53:44 PMSubject: Book Event at Greece Ridge B&N---Friday August 20
I wanted to notify you of an authors’ event at the Greece Ridge Mall Barnes and Noble this coming Friday August 20 at 7pm. It is their annual small publishers’ evening in which authors whose work has been published by small or independent publishing houses are featured. Authors are on hand to sell their wares. I will be among them. Think of this as a literary flea market. Please stop by if you have a chance.
Last August I was putting the finishing touches on Charlie No Face after having hired an excellent editor (Sarah Cypher, threepennyeditor.com) who made some terrific suggestions, so terrific that it took me six weeks to make the changes. So, the book is now a year old and it is in editing again. The line/word editing has been very slow this summer, but we feel we are in the home stretch and plan on August 31 as the finish line….for editing at least. There will be several steps after that before it is available.
In the meantime, I am having a productive summer working on ‘Chimney Bluffs,’ my next novel. In June, when I stopped working, I had written only 12,000+ words since I had started on Feb. 14. Over the summer I have written another 13,500 words and am fast approaching page 100 in the manuscript. When I hit 100, I stop and re - read the whole story in depth to see where the holes are, what the flow is like and whether or not it all holds together. I hope to reach that goal in another week or so.
