Subject: Love is an Altar of Silence; it is the only Temple in the Universe!

Hello all! I'm back after being stranded in Chicago. I was planning on going to Los Angeles for the next two weeks but have cancelled that trip with no future plans to travel.

My sympathy and prayers goes out to all of you. I hardly know what to say and in my own confusion I'm tending to babble to myself. I'm sure you are doing your share of babbling, too.

I strongly feel that the latest surge of hostility is not a religious war, per se, even though religious zeal stands strongly in the minds of some. Rather, our strife is a war of strong egos, egos that use the names of religion to justify their own personal agendas. Both good and bad, religion brings out both the best in humanity and the worst. Too often religion gets a bad rap and is used to justify political agendas, "Us versus Them" mentality, both locally and globally. What our warmongers don’t get is that we're all in this human/planetary soup together; there is no escape. To deny our connection with each other and with the planet Earth brings our greatest suffering. But, what else is new?

Will the masses of humanity ever understand? Many prophecies state quite clearly that we are entering a new age and as our planet moves across this threshold there will be many bumps and grinds, like those we're presently experiencing, the strife of the last century. Some prophecies go as far as to state that great masses of humanity will be turned back and not allowed to enter the Aquarian Age, the age of enlightenment and universal peace.

While Prophesy tells us that WW-III will be the last war, history shows us that every war has laid the groundwork for a future war. Therefore, if we use history as the measuring stick we can only assume that as long a mankind exists, there will be war. It's obvious that we as a species cannot grasp the most fundamental of teachings: "an eye for and eye makes the whole world blind."

In my own life, I try hard to practice unconditional love. I try to empower those around me. And, at times I miss the mark. I’m no saint! Still, it comes as a surprise that I find the prospects of war confusing; yes or no, take it or retaliate? But, how can we just stand by and take it? Not to stand up for oneself against a bully is to makes oneself a target; every kid in the schoolyard must learn this basic truth or else suffer the unfortunate consequences. War is definitely a lose - lose scenario.

It seems there is only one way we can stop all this foolishness. This is to shift the paradigm of reality for all human beings. Each and every one of us must wake up in a higher level of consciousness than we've presently obtained. Unfortunately, waking up from our personal and cultural ego-trance is the hardest thing to do; history shows that those who are capable of waking up, and staying awake, are saints. However, we must never forget the good news, other human beings have woken up and subsequently stayed awake. This fact alone proves that each of us is capable of the same level of enlightenment.

When we argue for our limitations, automatically they become ours to own. Our ego-trance is a multi-dimensional box that each of us has closed tightly around ourselves; make no mistake, it is real; it is our personal definition and perception of reality. Unfortunately, what we continually deny is (because of cultural conditioning), we (as individuals) posses the only key to unlock our personal box. "To find yourself is to lose yourself (ego-trance)." This is the fundamental teaching of ALL the Great Religions. All else is speculation, explanation and rhetoric.

If you want to know if a religion or sect is true, there is only one question to ask. Does that religion, denomination or sect exalt ego? If the answer is yes, then that religion, denomination or sect must be suspect.

When I consider the intensity of a mother's love for her child and the child for its mother, I wonder how it is that this kind of love gets lost to the extent that individual egos are exalted outside the lines of reason. Love is about surrender! What moves a man (or woman) to hate with such passion and intensity that he would risk destroying culture, himself, his family, or the entire planet? It seems unreasonable, even unthinkable. One can only ask, what is the missing experience in an individual's consciousness that would lead one to such despair, hate and destruction? Do they have such contempt for self that their souls have literally gone away? In Shaman cultures this is a foundation of belief. The soul can literally leave the person. In such cultures healing is about reuniting the individual with their lost soul. It’s called soul retrieval.

Perhaps the solution to our world dilemma is for each of us as individuals look in the mirror, into our own eyes and ask, “is my soul here right now or has ego chased it away, into some other dimension of time and space?” We must look long and deep, without fear or shame. There is no one to blame. We simply did what culture taught us to do. With small steps or large, we must be willing to heal, to surrender our insatiable ego demands, however long it takes. We cannot continue to live in such denial that we maintain the sanctity of our hardened hearts? For, what value to our species or our planet are we when our individual hate and distrust runs so deep? To allow parts of our soul to slip away is to lose our humanity and our spiritual connection with the source of creation. When this happens we live in the past or future, not the everlasting present. Consider, if you cannot look into yourself deeply and ask the hard questions, this very fact should be a wake up call.

If the prophecies of the Aquarian Age are true, then it can be extrapolated that only those persons with their souls intact will be able to enter into the age of enlightenment and universal peace. The soulless-ones will be turned away, not by some cosmic or divine force, but by their own self-imposed limitations. Literally, they will find it is they who are on the outside and don't fit the new world order!

It must be understood, the battles we fight are not on some distant shore or with some alien culture. The battles we fight are our inner selves, the ego-shadow duality that pervades our entire consciousness, both individually and collectively. Quite a sobering thought!

Love is an Altar of Silence; it is the only Temple in the Universe!

Anyway, some of my random thoughts as I struggle to come to grips with today's world events…

Namasté, John W…

Namasté, means: I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are one.
