Subject: It's June Already?

This just in from Amazon: My book has finally moved up from the 2 million mark! My sales ranking is now at 1.8 million! Next stop: bestseller list!! ;-)

Okay, maybe not! ;-) But the fact that I've moved ahead of about 200,000 other books did make me smile today. At the same time, knowing that there are 1.8 million books out there selling better than mine -- I can't help but giggle! Still, it *is* poetry, which is never likely to make any bestseller list.

In other news:

* In May, "Somewhere on the Edge of Words" was included in the Advance Access program through both the ABA (American Booksellers Association) and the GLBA (Great Lakes Booksellers Association). Due to those separate but similar programs, I was contacted by independent bookstores across the country, from Maine and California, and many places in between. I sent copies of the book for their advance review, in hopes they will find it worth purchasing to stock their shelves.

* I'm in process of obtaining my first "professional review". Good or bad, I'll post it to my site. I'm also "in the running" for an award for best poetry book through the Great Lakes Booksellers Association. Doesn't mean I'll get the award, or even come close. But hey, I'm in the running! ;-) Awards are announced in August, and presented during a trade show in October. I will be attending the trade show regardless.

* As to writing: I'm in the editorial stage (I have two internet friends giving it a once-over) with a short story that will soon be submitted to the Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I think you'll all like the title: "A Throne's Stow-Away."

* Last but not least, my first fantasy novel (working title: "Marching to Prophecy's Drum"), is coming together well. I hope to get it to submission-ready stage in conjunction with the GLBA trade show in October.

That's all I have for you today. Happy June, everyone!

That's all I have for today.
