Subject: A Second Novel

While 'Blasphemy' (2006) is a complete novel, it is also Book 2 of a planned trilogy (Blasphemy - Sacrilege - Redemption). Due to a change of policy by the publishers, 'Sacrilege' will be published by lulu.com and will be available from mid - November 2008. I have posted a synopsis below. For more information or to order a signed copy email me @ rogertab@aol.com.

SACRILEGE – a novel by Roger N. Taber (approx 100,000 words)

SYNOPSIS

Darkly humorous and gripping, 'Sacrilege' re - introduces principal characters from its predecessor 'Blasphemy' but is a novel in its own right. The reader can follow LAURENCE FISHER, its flawed but well - meaning narrator, as he continues to lurch from crisis to crisis.

Several years have passed since Laurence left London to live in Manchester with his partner, PHILIP ADAMS and DANNY, a teenage runaway. Philip is now seconded to the Metropolitan police in London to assist in the hunt for a serial killer of gay men. Meanwhile, Danny is kidnapped along with his girlfriend TERESA by a gang from whom she has escaped after they smuggled her out of Uganda and forced her to work as a prostitute on the streets of London.

Laurence witnesses the kidnapping and learns more from Teresa’s friend, AGNES MUSOKE who escaped with her. He goes to London and learns Danny’s whereabouts from GINNY SHARP, a former prostitute and friend of Danny’s. Subsequently, he is instrumental in rescuing Teresa and Danny from a gang led by the PACKARD family comprising father RALPH and sons MILES and VINCE. Their relief is short - lived, however as Teresa is snatched a second time.

Also living in London is Laurence’s brother MARC and his transsexual lover, JACKIE. Jackie, having once had a relationship with Miles Packard, plays a major role in the unfolding storyline.

In the meantime, Laurence meets and embarks on an affair with RYAN BANKS.

Laurence discovers that Philip, in his role as an undercover cop, is involved with the Packards. He begins to suspect Miles Packard of being the serial killer. Events hot up on a personal level when Philip realizes Laurence is having an affair with Ryan.

Laurence is also given cause to believe that he, Danny and possibly Philip as well are being targeted by someone in the pay of an old adversary, Fat Georgie, a former pimp serving a life sentence for murder.

A second attempt to rescue Teresa fails miserably. Laurence, Danny and Jackie are taken captive by the Packards. Teresa and Agnes are put up for sale at an ‘auction’ of unsuspecting illegal immigrants attended by pimps and perverts from around the UK. Danny is also entered for the auction while Laurence faces the prospect of being shot as part of Fat Georgie’s revenge strategy.

At the novel reaches its explosive conclusion, the police raid the auction and make numerous arrests. Helped by Philip and Agnes, Laurence and Danny succeed in freeing Teresa but not without incurring fatalities.

Danny returns to Manchester with Teresa while Laurence has to choose where his heart lies. It does not prove to be a good choice.
