From SANTOSH KUMAR
The Editor

The aim of Taj is to promote Art and Poetry for Peace & Brotherhood across diverse nations. This issue contains an extensive selection of most notable artwork, poems and short stories created by artists from all over the world. The artists whose works appear in Taj are selected because of their innovative style, and their faith in limitless freedom of expression devoid of superfluous ornamentation, empty verbiage and hollow generalities. The most important thing for a creative artist is to posses some inward Platonic reality to face the dark unspirituality and ‘homelessness’ of the postmodern ethos. The most obvious and inescapable aspect of the poems, artwork and short stories included in this issue is to convey the idea that there are as diverse ways of creative expression as there are individualities.

Terrorist attack on July 11, 06 by seven bombs on the train network in Mumbai, India killed more than 170 people and injured 500. These trains carry about six million commuters daily. It reminded me of Hardy’s famous statement: “Happiness is but the occasional episode in a general drama of pain” (The Mayor of Casterbridge). Hardy advises us in his another novel: “Our plan should be to move onward through good and evil-to avoid morbid sorrow even though we see ugliness in the world; to do good cheerfully, following Spinoza, battle with our evil star and follow out our ideals” (Tess of the D’Urbervilles).

It was a matter of great joy to me when Joseph Aprile along with his wife, a resident of Seattle, Washington, visited my residence, Allahabad on May 22, 06. We discussed a lot of things like modernism, postmodernism, the problem of selling poetry and art, contrast between works of art and real life etc. Aprile is an extraordinary creative artist. His poems, novel Awakening from a Distant Dream and short stories anthology At the Fringes of Experience ‘explore the many facets of the human experience’.

Hearty congratulations to Orhan Pamuk (b. 1952) for winning Noble Prize 2006, the first Turkish author to achieve this honour. His novels Yeni Hayat (1995) and My Name Is Red have been translated into more than forty languages. My Name Is Red is ‘a fantasy and a philosophical puzzle’.

As many of you will know, I have been trying my best on the enrichment of Taj, by selecting only those writings, which add to credibility and prestige of the journal. It is a pleasure to acknowledge, with a very deep sense of gratitude, the help, cooperation, generous support and kindness of all the authors and artists.

"You Cannot Bomb Me Anymore"

a poem by Ada Aharoni
http://www.bilingualmca.bravehost.com/adaaharoni.html
http://www.iflac.com/ada

Listen, little big man,
you cannot bomb me
anymore
because I don't allow you
to bomb me anymore
nor to choke
nor rape me anymore,
for I have my own strength now
and my own creative
peace business now

With this woman's mind
this woman's body
this woman's heart -
we don't allow you
to bomb us anymore
for our sisters in Norway
have shown us the way
and now -
you cannot, cannot, cananot bomb us
anymore.

For it was
the grandmother
who ate the big bad wolf
and not the other way round --

so now
we will not allow you
to bomb us, bomb us,
ANYMORE.

"Star Legend"
a poem by
Nina Goncharova
http://www.bilingualmca.bravehost.com/nina.html
http://www.peacefromharmony.org/?cat=en_c&key=248

Once upon a time there was a council in the
Heaven,
And some eternal souls were invited to attend.
They’d chosen to fulfill a marvelous endeavor –
That is unconscious life to put to the logical end.

And they were asked in turn if they would want to live
On dear mother Earth to bring her conscious light
And to fulfill the task for everyone to give
The miracle to spread the unconditional love

They saw the light of God and found the keys in hands,
And they were given stars to put into their hearts,
They heard the voice of God: you’ll live in different lands
But those shining stars will lead the real path.

You all have chosen to become the pioneers - inventors
And to awaken the Earth for her to become the star And you will find each other, when the millennium enters,
You’ll recollect this council and you will feel that Star.

And on the eve of Peace Land they had a shining sign-
They had a look at heavens and felt the stars inside.
They all had found each other – the glories design,
The Celebration of Life, the star within is a guide.

http://www.bilingualmca.bravehost.com/demetrakakis.html

In darkness quite,

the world seems to be,

the world of my dreaming,

that people can live.

No frontiers, no colures,

not doubts for exist,

the spirit of glory,

in soulpower of will,

the peace to sunrise,

and peace will lead,

not only in our dreaming,

in world, we believe.

http://www.bilingualmca.bravehost.com/adaaharoni.html
http://www.iflac.com/ada

bombardearnos, bombardearnos,
MÁS.

sEGUNDO PREMIO DE POESÍA ABRIL 07 bilingual mca
http://www.bilingualmca.bravehost.com/nina.html
http://www.peacefromharmony.org/?cat=en_c&key=248

http://www.bilingualmca.bravehost.com/demetrakakis.html

traducido por M C AZCONA

En la oscura quietud,
el mundo parece ser,
el mundo de mis sueños
donde ahora sí la gente puede convivir

Sin fronteras ni colores
ni dudas para existir
El espíritu de la gloria
basado en el poder del alma para
decidir

La paz en un amanecer
y la paz para prevalecer
La paz para gobernar

no sólo en un mundo de ensueño
sino en un mundo real
ya lo verás

BILINGUAL ARTICLE BY MARIA C AZCONA

PEACE ON EARTH
by MARIA CRISTINA AZCONA

Which are the authentic reasons to strike into other nations? Hegemony, power or the need of indispensable resources? The consequences of war endure centuries. Violence is the mother of violence
So, is it possible to establish Peace on Earth?
Is it possible to save the world from a nuclear ending?
Yes, it is, if humanity builds a new order, over the shoulders of international respect and understanding. A new order must prevail, based in respect of human rights without differences based in color, race or nationality. A harmonious world where to see our children grow, in Peace
We can define Peace as one of the most important values because it leads human society towards the protection of life. Peace allows life to grow, culture to be developed and systematic education and non-systematic education to be forwarded and transmitted.
Peace is a value because it is an achievement, a precious treasure for individuals, families and social groups. Peace is a human right; because any person has the right to live in peace and to see children grow in a nonviolent environment.
Peace is a duty because all of us have the moral responsibility to maintain its spirit and to promote it, wherever we go. Peace is like a crystal jar, manufactured by a million hands through history. When its equilibrium becomes unstable and it breaks down, its fragments are spread and they stab into a million hearts. From there, a new chain of cooperative work, with the unique help of education, reaches a new stability enforcing its strength increasingly each time peace is re established.
Bilingual Literature is an advance in international understanding. It creates bridges of communication where high spiritual values like Truth, Justice and Solidarity flow from one point to the other.
Peace Education through Literature is not only a possibility to be studied and researched by experts worldwide, but a moral duty of any educator who has became aware of the significance of these matters for the future of the Global Village.
