Hello, do you love books? Want to read about your favorites?

It's Only Ink! Children's Book Review Newsletter is for children's book reviews. My name is Jennifer LB Leese. I am an author of children's picture books, young adult gothic, fantasy novels, and paranormal romance novels. I am also a children's book reviewer, copyeditor, freelance writer, and feature article writer and managing editor for the local Picket News. As a book reviewer, I have many authors, publishers, and publicists sending me tons of books for review. Because of this, I tend to get overloaded and have no where to send the reviews. So, I decided to put together this newsletter through AuthorsDen to get some of the waiting reviews out there and in the public.

Feel free to pass this invitation on to others. Thanks, and enjoy.

THE UNACCEPTED CHILD by Marie A. Celestin
Publisher: New Century Press (.com)
Release: 2003
ISBN: 1-890035-32-7
Reviewer: Jennifer LB Leese, http://www.geocities.com/ladyjiraff

Set in a big city, THE UNACCEPTED CHILD is a book that withstands time. Olivia is a young shy girl who finds life in the big city difficult and sometimes depressing. After learning how to make her way around a new school and neighborhood, Olivia learns a valuable lesson in being herself, and in finding out who her true friends are.

Rejection is hard enough for anyone, let alone a child. The author, Marie A. Celestin, addresses issues such as rejection, as well as, self-worth and loneliness. Her positive approach in tackling these issues through fictional words and characters was a delight to read. Child readers will know that what they feel or experience is felt by others, too.

This book is inspiring. This reviewer highly recommends THE UNACCEPTED CHILD by Marie A. Celestin and feels that it should be on every school library shelf throughout the world!

Professor Rock Ltd. by B. J. "Butch Hatch Jr.
Publisher: Shooting Star Editions, http://www.americanliterarypress.com
Release: 2003
ISBN: 1-56167-808-2
Reviewer: Jennifer LB Leese, http://www.geocities.com/ladyjiraff

Filled with unique characters such as Professor Rock, Fossil Al, and Cheerrock Leader, PROFESSOR ROCK is an informative and entertaining study of rocks. Geared towards younger children, this book is sure to be a favorite. The colorful illustrations bring the characters and rocks to life. Readers will learn the names of several different types of rocks, where they are found, and how people use them.

Author B. J. "Butch" Hatch Jr. delves into the subject using kid-friendly text. After reading Hatch's book, my children asked question after question…it really got their little minds spinning.

PROFESSOR ROCK by B. J. "Butch" Hatch would work wonderfully in a school setting and would make a terrific asset to any library.

JEANNIE, A TEXAS FRONTIER GIRL, BOOK THREE by Evelyn Horan
Published by Publish America
ISBN: 1413704034
Reviewed by Jennifer LB Leese, http://www.geocities.com/ladyjiraff

As a reviewer who has read book one and book two in the JEANNIE, A TEXAS FRONTIER GIRL series, I can honestly say Evelyn Horan's books just keep getting better. As in most series books they lose their momentum, this is not true for Horan's series. Her work is well written and the characters are remarkably realistic. She keeps the readers interest with her captivating and intriguing writing style.

In Book Three, Jeannie and her best friend Helga spend the summer preparing the Indian children for school. With it being their last year of school, the girls find that their future interests differ. Jeannie wants to own her own horse ranch someday and Helga has her eyes on Billy Joe.
As tension rises between the Native American Indians and the settlers during 1880, Jeannie and her friends learn the true meaning of neighbors and neighborly support. Horan ends this book satisfactorily and leaves the reader eager to read Book Four.

JEANNIE, A TEXAS FRONTIER GIRL, BOOK THREE is geared toward young adults, but is entertaining for all ages. This reviewer looks forward to reading more books in the Jeannie series.
