As always I have to say Thank you for all of you who have been supportive of my events thus far in 2007. It hasn't always been easy, but when I get the emails of encouragement as well as see new faces at each event, it makes it all worth it.
A special thank you goes out to the print media for all of the support that you have given me. The Clarion Ledger, Mississippi Kids Magazine, the Jackson Advocate, the Northeast Ledger and the Rankin Ledger have all made sure that the events I have been launching in 2007 as well as the ones I have been supporting have made their way out to the public.
This month marks a year that I have been the President of the Rankin County Arts Alliance. This has been an incredible 12 months, and at the RCAA meeting last night I thanked the members for accepting my leadership and for making it easy to serve such an appreciative county. Look for the RCAA to be a part of the Brandon Day activities this year as well as continue to showcase our work through our partnership with Community Bank.
As for me personally, I couldn't be more pleased. I will be hosting my FIRST ART SHOW OF THE YEAR during the month of June 2007 all throughout the offices of the Mississippi Blood Services building. This will be a special thing for me since it makes my return to the establishment after an almost 7 year absence. Many of you might remember that my relationship with MS Blood Services began in January 2000 when I became the first artist to design their coloring book. Now I am returning, showcasing new work as well as some of my favorite prints.
The other projects geared around reading and literacy are also going well, thanks to all of the book lovers and my business partner, Stanley Clark, President of For The People Productions. Thanks to everyone who has supported the Conversations Book Club and its READ MY LIPS project. Look for the new project BREAKFAST WITH BOOKS to be coming your way in May 2007--- with a surprise that you will find out about very soon. Finally, thank you to everyone who has tapped into my new spoken word project MY CONTROVERSY. Thank you to HBO Def Poetry Jam artist C-Bone Jones for visiting MS during the release---and those who showed the two of us love during the weekend. The cd is now available, and you can find out more by visiting http://spokencontroversy.blogspot.com.
