Subject: Conversations Book Club & C-Murder Team up for Mississippi projects
After reading almost 100 books in 2007, talking with over 60 authors via conference call and meeting 20 authors in person, Conversations Book Club President Cyrus A. Webb has made his decision: C-Murder's "Death Around the Corner" has been chosen as his BOOK OF THE YEAR.
"There's no way to deny the message of the book," Webb,32, told BET last week. "No other book I have read this year takes you into the mind of a young man so damaged by his life that he tries all of his remaining years on earth to undo a cycle so vicious that it threatens to engulf him more and more every day."
Webb believes that the plight of the main character is the perfect model of what he sees a great deal in the school system in which he volunteers. "Alot of the young people are so blinded by hate and disappointment that they can't concentrate enough to learn anything. There home life is so tragic that is affects everything else that they do and the decisions that they make later."

Multi-platinum selling artist and author C-Murder plans to visit Mississippi to promote his book "Death Around the Corner" October 11-12, 2007. C-Murder, whose birth name is Corey Miller, will travel with Conversations Book Club through Hinds and Rankin counties holding discussions and meeting fans. The book chronicles the life of a young man who learns early in life the meaning of hate---and what it can do if not addressed. The book also addresses the power of music, and how it can be used as a catalyst to escape one's past---only if you remember what originally gave you the gift.
Conversations Book Club partnered with Miller in February 2007, and his book DEATH AROUND THE CORNER has been selected to begin the organization's newest brain child: "The C.U.T. Society", an urban teen group dedicated to getting young people to reading. (http://thecutsociety.blogspot.com)

Webb endorsed Miller's book DEATH AROUND THE CORNER IN February 2007, and first interviewed him prior to his national interview with shock radio host Wendy Williams. Webb led a discussion with Miller again in July 2007 with an audience of about 25 in attendance to encourage them to give the book a chance.
"It's not what you think," Webb says. "I told Cee that even I was hesitant when I first found out that he had written a book, but it is a powerful read and everyone from age 15 up should give it a chance."
